Don’t know if these two words have anything in common, except that they sound like this beautiful stencil looks: Byzantine Baroque.

Marrakech Riad Courtyard – Wall & Floor Tile Stencil.

A Riad is an enclosed home, usually in the older parts of towns. They have lower level open air courtyards which extend up through all levels of the home. Very sought after properties in Morocco.

I think this design would look gorgeous painted in multi jewel tones over a medium teak wood stain. I submit, “African Jewel” or “Jewel of Africa”.

I can’t begin to compete with all of these great names . . . but what I am going to call this stencil design is “mine.” I’ve been looking for two years for the perfect stencil for the patio/pergola on my 100 year old Spanish Colonial home. This is it! Can hardly wait till I can order it.

this stencil brings back memories of a Moroccan window trellis imprinting it’s image on the dessert sands. I offer Desert poem.

This stencil reminds me of looking through a shaded moroccan window trellis imprinted on the vast sands. I offer Desert poem.

Some of the earliest examples of this style were seen in the Hagia Sofia Mosque in Istanbul, formerly Constantinople, originally Byzantium. I suggest as my entry… Byzantium

How about Casablanca? The stencil is obviously Moroccan, and its capital city, Casablanca, conjours thoughts of intrigue and romance.
