Cabinet of Stenciled Wonders!

This particular cabinet had been unwanted (!!!) and after a few moves, was settled into her work studio. She had repainted it a few times since her adoption of it, but was looking for a final transformation that would work with her decor. Enter Chalk Paint® decorative paint and Royal Design Studio Stencils.

Creative Cabinet Stenciling

Have you ever been stumped by how to paint a furniture piece? Stared at it, circled it, researched Pinterest, danced a few rain dances for inspiration...and still, nothing. That's exactly what happened with Debbie Hayes of Annie Sloan Unfolded.

Stenciling with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

"Discovering Chalk Paint® and Royal Design Studio Stencils has made painting and projects fun, simple and quick!", Debbie explains. Noting that the piece was "very plain and awkward", she decided to play on the circles of her favorite pillows. She chose both the Circling Allover Elements Stencil and Small Polka Party Stencil because she thought they would be the perfect, exuberant fit for her happy studio. Both patterns are from the Modern Stencils Collection.

Stenciled Cabinet Wardrobe with Royal Design Studio Stencils

Painted Cabinet with Polka Party Stencils from Royal Design Studio

Debbie chose Paris Gray Chalk Paint® and Old White Chalk Paint® along with the Circling Allover Elements Stencil for the exterior.  After completing the painting and stenciling on the exterior, she loved the calm and soft results.  For the inside, she wanted an explosion of color while still keeping in line with the main body. She chose Old White Chalk Paint® and the Circling Allover Elements Stencil again along with Emile Chalk Paint® and the Small Polka Party Stencil for the drawer fronts.  Lovely combination, don't you think?

Stenciled Furniture Makeover

Debbie wrapped around the Circling Allover Elements Stencil design from the doors to the sides of the cabinet.  She shares that it only took one coat of Old White Chalk Paint® to stencil the beautiful symmetrical circles. Please be sure to read her blog post on this amazing cabinet transformation.

Stenciled Cabinet Reveal

Debbie has decided to use her "new" cabinet as storage for her glass artwork and upcoming projects. We think it's perfect for both storage AND showing off! :) We also adore how the stencil patterns and Chalk Paint® colors work together so seamlessly.  The kitties certainly seem to approve, too!  We'd love to hear your furniture dilemmas and how stencils helped you cure it as well!  You can always e-mail us at projects@RoyalDesignStudio.com or share them right on the Royal Design Studio Facebook page!  Have an inspired day, Stencilistas!
