Suzanis are very colorful, elaborately embroidered fabrics that originated in central Asia, primarily in what is now Uzbekistan. The words Suzani means “needle” in Persian, and was inspired by the tradition of showing off one’s needlework skills. The suzani pattern usually depicts a sunburst or floral design and has been burning up design blogs for years, and thus their beautiful hand-embroidered patterns have been borrowed and evolved into more than just a fabric.
