We’ve got the EASY (and by easy, we really mean easy) solution for you: Use Wall Stencils from Royal Design Studio to quickly create a custom wallpaper look on a feature wall… in ONLY 1 HOUR! Watch the video and follow the instructions below to learn how to stencil a super-fast project. Stencil it in minutes… enjoy it for years!
- Mansion House Grille Trellis Wall Stencil from Royal Design Studio
- Behr Ultra Paint in Otter Tail
- Foam roller with tray
- Painter’s tape and contractor’s paper
Step 1: Level and then secure your stencil on the top middle of the wall with painter’s tape. Use painter’s tape to mask off and protect adjacent walls, ceiling line, and floor line.
Step 2: Load your brush with the Behr Paint and off-load most of the paint onto contractor’s paper or a paper towel. Using too much paint when stenciling is the number one reason for bleeding, so make sure to off-load excess paint before stenciling.
Step 3: Stencil the large wall pattern using light to medium pressure. Carefully remove the stencil from the wall.
Step 4: Move on to the second repeat of the pattern by following the registrations that are built right into the wall stencil. These registration marks help you move and place the wall stencil up, down, and across the wall perfectly every time! Because you used minimal paint, the wall will be dry enough to reposition the stencil.
Step 5: To bend the stencil and paint into the corners, ceiling line, or floor line, follow this handy video tutorial: How to Stencil into Corners, Ceiling Line, and Floor Line.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 1 through 5 working outwards until the entire feature wall is covered with pretty pattern.
And that’s it! You’re done! That didn’t take that much time out of your day, now did it? Now you can focus on other things, such as inviting friends and family over to admire your handy work of your new feature wall. Remember to tell them that it isn’t wallpaper and wasn’t professionally done – or don’t! :)
