Royal Design Studio is pleased to introduce an adorable and whimsical new Stencil Collection for walls, fabric, and furniture based on the fanciful fabric designs of Bari J.
Bari Ackerman is the designer behind Bari J. The "J" is for "Jill", her middle name.
Bari's career began in advertising where she was a copy writer and graphic designer. She left advertising in 1996 to have children and soon there-after her creative endeavors began. Not one to sit still, Bari was always crafting or sewing. She soon started selling handmade jewelry and collage art made from found items to local boutiques. But is was when she sewed her first handbag that her love of sewing took off. She literally felt she couldn't stop...making bag after bag, and eventually turning all that bag making into a business. Soon, Bari's handbags were sold at boutiques across the country, on her own website and on eBags.com.
In 2009, Bari realized a long time goal of creating a line of fabric when she licensed her first line, Full Bloom. Shortly thereafter, she changed her handbag business to focus on the DIY industry, with a line of sewing patterns. To date, Bari has produced nearly 20 sewing patterns and has licensed 7 lines of fabric. The most recent, Splendor 1920, shipped to stores in November 2012. Her first sewing book, Inspired to Sew, was released in 2011.
You can find Bari's fabrics, sewing patterns, and book in quilt shops all over the world. Her fabric line is licensed to Art Gallery Fabrics, a fashion forward fabric company that produces and wholesales her designs. Bari's next fabric line, Bijoux, is due out Spring 2013.
