Changing your shower curtain just might be one of the fastest ways to spruce up your bathroom. But finding one in a fabric design and color to match your decor can be tough which is you should make your own DIY shower curtain! And believe it or not, it's a relatively simple process when you use Royal Design Studio Stencils to paint a custom pattern onto fabric. Watch the video and read the instructions below to see how easy stenciling a shower curtain really is!
- Opposites Attract Modern Tribal Wall Stencil
- Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® in Amsterdam Green and Lem Lem
- Three 1” Royal Stencil Brushes
- White shower curtain
- Painter’s tape
Step 1: Place the shower curtain on a flat surface protected by contractor’s paper or a drop cloth. Find the center of the shower curtain and place and secure the modern stencil to the area with painter’s tape.
Step 2: Load your stencil brush with the lightest green color and offload the excess paint onto a paper towel. Use the color diagram in the video to follow what shapes are stenciled with this color.
Step 3: Mix 1 part Lem Lem Chalk Paint® and 1 part Amsterdam Green Chalk Paint®. Now you will have 3 different green colors to use for this project. Repeat step 2 with the custom paint mix.
Step 4: Repeat step 2 with the darkest green color.
Stencil Tip: To avoid stenciling over other elements, you can use a piece of paper or a post-it note to mask off these elements. No more paint oopsies!
Step 5: Once you have stenciled your first repeat, reposition the stencil to its second repeat. Use the built in registration marks to perfectly align the stencil. Continue stenciling until you have completed your DIY shower curtain.
Hang your finished shower curtain and admire your easy bathroom makeover! So fresh and so clean!
