Our stencils are laser cut in our San Diego, California, USA studio from durable 10mil Mylar plastic sheets. With minimal care, stencils can be used repeatedly for many different projects and on multiple surfaces. Stenciling is a fast, easy, and inexpensive way to customize and update any surface in your house with paint, including walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, and fabric. Stenciling is generally done using either stencil brushes or stencil rollers. You can stencil with craft acrylic paints, latex wall paint, or our specially designed Royal Stencil Creme paints. I originally purchased the Adelaide stencil for a bedroom, however the tiny powder room bathroom in the 1906 house we purchased was in dire need of some help. As I began to think of a color scheme, it suddenly dawned on me that the Adelaide stencil was meant to liven up this room. My base coat was Sherwin Williams Burgundy, and I used the Royal Design stencil paste in antique gold. The dingy yellow bathroom is gone, and a lovely art deco powder room has replaced it. Besides the fact that the stencil turned out fantastIc, the cost was a fraction of what I would have paid for a roll of wallpaper. I am an avid thrifter and always looking for ways to create interesting spaces without paying a fortune. The Adelaide Stencil, along with the $5 mirror I scored at a garage sale, and the roll of $7 fabric from the local thrift store and used to make a sink skirt, allowed me to transform this entire room for less than $150. I call that a WIN!

Adelaide Wall Stencil
I've purchased from this site before and chose the simpler designs and kept it to one color. I wanted to take it to the next level and bit off more than I could chew. I consider myself to be a capable person so I don't think this is a user error issue but I think the design is far too complex to not bleed out from under the stencil. I rarely got a clean edge using the technique they recommend on the site and found myself having to go over practically every edge freehand to clean up. Took WAY TOO LONG. I found I got some better results using a paint sprayer but even with the repositionable adhesive spray holding the stencil down, there was far too much work to clean up. I'd recommend avoiding the very complicated designs like this one and keep it to one color if possible.
This is my favorite room. I will recommend getting a laser lever BEFORE starting this project! The whole room is straight until I got to this last wall, and you can see I'm going to have to re - do the last wall. This is my favorite color combo also.
I do wish they would include smaller stencils for corners and touch ups, I had to touch up several of the flowers so the color was even and it was a pain using the whole giant stencil for that.
Your stenciling projects are just stunning! Yes, we know stenciling in corners can be challenging. Unfortunately where you start on the wall and the distance to the corners is always different so it would be impossible to anticipate exactly which elements would be necessary. You really handled it like a pro though. Congratulations!
