Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan’s signature velvety, matte finish is unmistakable in the upcycle world. DIYers have used Chalk Paint® to convert tired furniture into amazing shabby chic delights since 1990. But did you know that Chalk Paint® projects can be something other than shabby chic? Danielle of Finding Silver Pennies loves that Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan and Furniture Stencils can create a variety of different styles on painted furniture. To show how versatile these products are, she painted and stenciled shabby chic and tribal inspired dressers. Let’s see how these furniture makeovers turned out, and be sure to let us know in the comments which style inspires you:
Shabby Chic Chalk Painted & Stenciled Furniture
So pretty in pink! We often see Chalk Paint® being used to create soft, feminine looks – and it’s beautiful every time! Danielle knew that Antoinette Chalk Paint® would be perfect for a little girl’s room that featured pastel pinks and soft whites. To take the shabby chic look one step further, she also painted the subtle lace patterns of our Fleur de Lace Furniture Stencil in Pure White Chalk Paint® onto this dresser’s drawers. Vintage Chalk Painted & Stenciled Furniture
There is something so soft and appealing about ferns, their soft green fronds and Feather-like stems. The perfect bit of nature to bring into your home for spring! Danielle found this sweet dresser at a local antique shop and it was just calling out for a little paint + pattern. She left the stripped wood top exposed and the aged patina brings a nice sense of the past to the piece. Just a few stenciled ferns from our Sword Ferns stencil set provided the perfect touch our softness and nature to the rest of the painted piece. Tribal Chalk Painted & Stenciled Furniture
Want to take a furniture piece from dated and drab to modern and fun? Incorporating geometric prints and bold patterns is an easy way to liven up your home! Danielle loves all the trending tribal prints that she is seeing everywhere lately and knew she just had to use the fantastic Tribal Furniture Stencil and Graphite Chalk Paint® and Old White to update a plain 40’s era dresser that had been waiting in storage for the right inspiration to come along! Distressed Chalk Painted & Stenciled Furniture
Nesting tables are a great “go to” decorating item for any home, especially for a small living space. While entertaining, you can simply spread the tables to get more usable surface area and later push them together to make more room. Danielle’s old nesting tables desperately needed a little bit of personality. She decided to give them a fresh new look with our Tribal Batik Furniture Stencil in Napoleonic Blue and Pure White Chalk Paint®! Modern Chalk Painted & Stenciled Furniture
It’s easy to take a basic table from boring to stunning with some bright paint and a fun pattern. Modern furniture makeovers call for splashes of happy colors and fun patterns. For this DIY project, Danielle turned to English Yellow and Pure White Chalk Paint® and our Navajo Dreams Damask Furniture Stencil to create this fresh, modern look on an old, previously-overlooked table. Now this piece is in the spotlight – and loving it! For the full DIY tutorial, check out Stencil a Pretty Navajo Tabletop for Colorful Fun.
