Stencil How-to: Easy Sponge Roller Texture and Stencil Shadow-Shift

Here's a super pretty stencil how-to that is perfect for creating a unique, textured look with an allover damask wall stencil-or any stencil that you want to add a soft, lacy effect to. We combine this sponge stencil technique here with a simple drop shadow or shadow-shift technique that adds more depth and dimension. The sponge roller stencil effect goes very fast but the drop shadow technique requires that you stencil the pattern twice-which takes some extra time, so we recommend limiting this effect to a stenciled feature wall or lovely piece of furniture.

Are you looking for a fast, fun, and easy stencil wall finish? This Stencil How-to offers just that-and it provides a totally custom fabric effect that you can easily switch up by trying different color combinations! We have found that Chalk Paint® decorative paint by Annie Sloan is ideal for this finish. This heavy, fast-drying, opaque paint has the perfect amount of body that helps to keep the colors from muddying too much and bleeding excessively under the stencil edge, even when using a healthy amount of paint.

Whoa Baby! Sweet Nursery Stenciling

Whoa, Baby! There are so many fun ways to incorporate stencils and pattern into a nursery that tie in with any color scheme, whether it be pink, blue or gender-neutral colors such as yellow or green. A story or favorite piece of artwork might spark the idea for a beautiful theme and/or color scheme -- and stencils are a fantastic way to help add interest to the chosen design. Stenciling is very versatile and you can incorporate the pattern on a feature wall, furniture piece, pillows, floor rugs and even the lampshades in a nursery.

How To Paint Pattern on Wood Table: Transform a Chest with Chalk Paint® & Furniture Stencils

An afternoon of stenciling can transform an ugly duckling old wooden dresser into a beautiful swan! This stencil how-to combines Chalk Paint® decorative paint from Annie Sloan with a fast stencil finish using our Moroccan stencil, Moorish Fleur de Lis. Originally posted on the Annie Sloan Unfolded blog, this stenciled furniture project by Debbie Hayes is the perfect stencil project for beginners and seasoned stencilers alike. Bonus! Furniture Stenciling: French Menu Lettering Stencil

While we love the flexibility of dining tables with leaves, the leaves themselves, however, always pose a dilemma... you see, we typically only use our leaves during the holidays. This means that while the tabletop is being used and abused, the leaves are stored away, staying pristine...and when we drag them out to use, they TOTALLY: a) don't match b) make us realize how much wear our tabletop has sustained throughout the year! Problem solved! We simply paint and stencil the leaves to coordinate, but not match, the tabletop. This allows us to pick up a fun accent color that we might not want for every day use and get a little creative with our painted furniture!

Creative Coloring & Antiquing with Stencils

Stenciling with a single color of paint can be fast and easy, but we have an easy way for you to take your wall stencil projects up a notch by adding soft layers of metallic color with our Royal Stencil Creme collection of stencil paints. Each of the stencil layers shown below is beautiful unto itself, and the amount of color layering that you do is a matter of personal taste-and time! Our goal is to show you that layering colors of the Royal Stencil Creme paints is an easy and effective way to build up a subtle but rich look in your stencil projects.
